Amkor Technology outlines $12bn Arizona expansion, targets $11bn revenue by 2030

Amkor Technology provided an operational and financial update at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on September 9, 2026. The company detailed a multi‑year, $12 billion expansion of its Arizona campus, up from an earlier $7 billion estimate.

The Arizona site will span 170 acres and house 93,000 square metres of clean‑room space, split between 33,000 sqm in Phase 1 and 60,000 sqm in Phase 2. Phase 2 groundbreaking is slated for the end of 2025, with construction during 2026‑27, production start in 2028 and full capacity by 2030. Preparation costs will dilute operating‑income margin by 1‑2 percentage points in 2027; capital spending will peak at 20‑25 % of the total outlay in 2028‑29. The investment is expected to become accretive in the second half of 2029 and fully accretive for the full year 2030.

NVIDIA has committed a $1.5 billion prepayment over a five‑ to ten‑year period, which will be applied toward the Arizona build‑out. Phase 1 is projected to generate about $1 billion of revenue with gross margins above 30 %, with Phase 2 scaling proportionally.

Amkor reported compute demand growth of roughly 30 % year‑over‑year, with compute revenue rising 20 % sequentially in Q2 2026 and a 30 % sequential step‑up guided for Q3 2026. Communications and smartphone revenue rose 37 % in the first half of 2026 versus the same period in 2025. The company’s long‑term 2030 targets include more than $11 billion of revenue, a 22 % gross margin, $5 earnings per share and leverage at or below 1.5 times debt.

Operationally, Amkor is shifting System‑in‑Package production from Korea to Vietnam to free capacity in Korea, which will remain a high‑value advanced‑packaging hub. Footprints in Taiwan and Portugal are also being expanded. The firm continues to develop internal technologies such as 2.5D packaging, high‑density fan‑out, bridge, co‑packaged optics, flip‑chip and wafer services.

Chief Financial Officer Megan Faust said demand for advanced packaging is strengthening and customers are seeking longer‑term supply agreements. Vice President Doug Scott added that packaging now enables the broader semiconductor market.

As of Q2 2026, Amkor’s shares traded at $51.35, a 1.24 % increase on the day, giving the company a market capitalization of $12.64 billion. The firm reported twelve‑month revenue of $7.46 billion, a price‑to‑earnings multiple of 22.7, a PEG ratio of 0.27, a debt‑to‑equity ratio of 0.58, a current ratio of 2.17 and gross profit margins of 15.51 %. The stock has returned 105 % over the past year.
