FIS launched an embedded banking platform on Thursday, enabling U.S. banks to embed accounts, card issuance, receivables, payables and expense management directly into corporate accounting and business software.
The platform, available through APIs, SDKs, embeddable widgets or white-labeled applications, maintains customer accounts on the bank’s balance sheet to preserve regulatory control and customer ownership. Banks partner with vertical software providers or fintechs, retaining the customer relationship while the software partner manages the user experience under FIS’s infrastructure.
Accounts and payments functionality is slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2026. Three U.S. banks—Cogent Bank, Commercial Bank of California and M&T Bank—will participate in the initial pilot program.
Jon Briggs, FIS’s Global Head of Embedded Solutions and Money Movement, said the platform addresses demand from corporate customers seeking banking services integrated into the software they use daily. “Banks’ customers want banking built into the software they use to run their business every day,” Briggs said. “Embedded Banking Platform lets banks meet those expectations and stay at the center of the relationship, while maintaining the regulatory control and customer ownership that define traditional banking.”
FIS, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, is a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 member listed on the NYSE under the ticker FIS.
