Cinemark Holdings reported its highest domestic summer box office on record, measured from the first Friday in May through Labor Day, as the theater chain benefited from a diverse slate of films.
The Plano, Texas-based company operates nearly 500 theaters with more than 5,500 screens across 42 U.S. states and 13 countries in South and Central America. In the United States, Cinemark runs 301 theaters with 4,219 screens, while its international footprint includes 194 theaters with 1,401 screens.
The record performance follows the expansion of premium in-theater experiences. Approximately 72% of Cinemark’s domestic circuit now features reclined seating, and its Cinemark XD premium large-format auditoriums operate in over 300 locations across the U.S. and Latin America. The XD format accounted for 13% of the global box office in 2025 despite representing just 5% of total screens. The chain also maintains over 650 auditoriums equipped with D-BOX motion seats.
Food and beverage offerings have expanded as well, with 80% of U.S. theaters now serving restaurant-quality menu items and 60% offering alcoholic beverages. Customer satisfaction remains high, with the company reporting that approximately 95% of domestic guests surveyed express satisfaction. Cinemark’s Movie Club subscription program has surpassed 1.5 million members, while its technology infrastructure maintains 99.97% uptime across daily showtimes.
Justin McDaniel, Senior Vice President of Global Content at Cinemark, said the record summer box office reflects the company’s commitment to delivering diverse and high-quality film experiences to audiences.
