Schweizer Ökonomen erhöhen die Wachstumsprognose für 2026 und 2027 auf 1,7 Prozent

The Swiss economists have significantly revised their forecasts for Switzerland’s economic growth, with a new consensus value of 1.7 percent for real GDP (corrected for seasonal and calendar effects) in 2026. This corresponds to an increase compared to the last June estimate of + 0.9 percent. The forecast has also been raised for 2027: the consensus value for GDP growth is now + 1.7 percent (June: + 1.5 percent). The survey of 17 economists, conducted from 3 to 23 September 2026, also shows a significant shift in expectations towards stronger investment. Real fixed investment is expected to rise by 1.5 percent in 2026 (June: + 0.9 percent) and by 2.2 percent in 2027 (June: + 1.8 percent). The construction investments in particular benefit from this dynamic: they are expected to rise by 2.4 percent in 2026 (June: + 1.2 percent) and by 1.9 percent in 2027 (June: + 1.6 percent). These expectations are based on increased investment activity as a driver of economic growth. While the inflation scenarios are slightly more optimistic, the forecast for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) remains moderate: a rise of 0.6 percent is expected for 2026 (June: + 0.7 percent) and a rise of 0.8 percent for 2027 (June: + 0.9 percent). The labour market remains stable, with an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent for 2026 and 3.0 percent for 2027. Expectations for the Swiss franc exchange rate show only slight fluctuations: in three months, a rate of about 0.93 CHF/EUR is expected, in 12 months the value is 0.92 CHF/EUR. A slight decline to 0.81 CHF/USD for three months and 0.80 CHF/USD for 12 months is forecast for the US dollar.
