Centiel acquires Tessin production plant for 12.1M CHF

Centiel, a Swiss manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies, has acquired a production facility in Muzzano, Ticino, for 12.1 million Swiss francs, the company said Tuesday. An additional amount in the low single-digit millions will be spent adapting the building to Centiel's requirements.

The roughly 7,300-square-metre site lies close to Centiel's headquarters in Lugano and will be used for production, offices and logistics. The facility can be expanded further, the company said. The acquisition is being financed through existing cash reserves and a bank loan.

Production at the new location is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027. Centiel had announced in mid-August alongside its half-year results that it would expand production capacity to meet what it expects to be strong growth in demand.

The company is also expanding into the United States, where demand from data centres is surging. Centiel has partnered with Neo Critical Power, which brings an established network of partners and customer relationships in data centres, power supply and system integration. The company says the partnership should generate additional orders linked to artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Based on the expected additional business from the US, Centiel has forecast revenue of around 65 million Swiss francs for 2026, even though first-half revenue was only about 25 million francs. Sales are projected to reach at least 100 million Swiss francs in 2027.
