Euro yields rise as crude nears $100 and ECB hike looms

European bond yields rose on Sep. 8, 2026, as crude oil approached the $100-a-barrel level and an ECB rate hike remained imminent. Brent crude surged toward $98 a barrel, keeping oil near a key psychological threshold.

U.S. Treasury yields also firmed. The policy-sensitive two-year yield reached 4.381%, the highest level since 2025, while the benchmark 10-year yield held at 4.795%. The move followed a hotter jobs report and came ahead of the Federal Reserve's FOMC meeting on Sept. 15-16.

The prior week's nonfarm payrolls report showed employment expanded by 162,000. A U.S. Consumer Price Index release was also due Friday, adding to the data backdrop for bond markets.
