Sunshine Biopharma Inc., through its wholly‑owned Canadian subsidiary Nora Pharma Inc., began commercial distribution of generic ondansetron tablets in Canada. The launch covers 4 mg and 8 mg strengths and is scheduled for the remainder of 2026.
Ondansetron, sold under the brand name Zofran, is a serotonin 5‑HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. DataIntelo estimates the global ondansetron market at $1.82 billion in 2025, with a projected value of $2.98 billion by 2034, reflecting a 5.6% compound annual growth rate. IQVIA Pharmafocus 2028 data shows Canada accounts for roughly 2.1% of that market, ranking as the sixth‑largest pharmaceutical market worldwide.
The product adds to Sunshine Biopharma’s existing portfolio of 61 generic prescription drugs sold in Canada. The company plans to introduce about 11 additional generics before the end of 2026. CEO Dr. Steve Slilaty said the launch “represents another decisive step in scaling Sunshine Biopharma's generics business…enhances our competitive position and reflects our ongoing commitment to broadening access to dependable, much‑needed pharmaceuticals.”
Beyond generics, Sunshine Biopharma is advancing a K1.1 mRNA program for liver cancer and a PLpro protease inhibitor targeting SARS coronavirus infections. The firm is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
