Dextr AI, a San Francisco-based startup founded in July 2025, has raised $6.7 million in seed funding to accelerate the deployment of AI-powered hotel agents. The round, led by Elevation Capital with participation from Foundation Capital, marks Dextr’s first institutional financing and follows the company’s emergence from stealth mode. The capital will support hiring more engineers to work directly with hotel clients, expanding software integrations, and developing additional AI agents to handle a broader range of guest and operational tasks.
The company’s approach centers on creating modular AI agents—such as voice reservation systems (e.g., Daisy) and guest management tools (e.g., Alfred)—that integrate seamlessly with existing property management systems, including Oracle Hospitality, OPERA Cloud, StayNtouch, Cloudbeds, and Hostaway. Dextr’s agents are designed to streamline operations by connecting data across different functions, such as passing guest preferences (e.g., declining housekeeping) to staff scheduling systems or enabling late-night check-ins without requiring an overnight front desk staff member. In California alone, eliminating this shift could save hotels $70,000 to $80,000 annually, according to CEO Sajid Shariff.
Dextr’s revenue-generating potential is evident in its early traction: one major hotel client generates $100,000 to $300,000 in monthly bookings through its voice agent alone. The startup now handles over 1 million monthly interactions across hundreds of properties, spanning independent hotels, branded chains (including Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western, and IHG), and vacation rentals. Its subscription-based model includes usage fees for specific agents, with annual recurring revenue growing 20% to 30% month over month, though exact figures remain undisclosed.
A key differentiator is Dextr’s hands-on approach to implementation. Unlike many AI tools, the company deploys engineers directly with hotel owners to identify use cases and customize solutions to their unique workflows. This tailored approach also addresses a persistent challenge in hospitality: frequent staff turnover, which complicates training and retention. Dextr’s user-friendly companion interface, Doss, allows staff to interact with agents via voice or text without complex software navigation, reducing friction and improving adoption.
The funding reflects strong early traction, with customers reporting measurable ROI through both revenue growth and cost reductions. Elevation Capital’s AI partner Krishna Mehra highlighted the company’s ability to scale rapidly with hundreds of contracted properties and a clear revenue model—uncommon in the AI hospitality space. Dextr’s growth trajectory, driven by founder execution and proven ROI, positions it as a disruptive player in the industry.
