Lowe’s Companies Inc. announced on September 24, 2026 that it is launching a drone delivery pilot in Matthews, North Carolina, in partnership with Wing and DoorDash.
The service promises delivery as fast as 20 minutes, with Wing drones capable of carrying about 2.5 pounds per flight. Eligible items include hand tools, paint products, soap, tape, all‑purpose cleaner and batteries.
Customers in the eligible area near the Matthews store can access a dedicated “Lowe’s by Drone” storefront inside the DoorDash app to place orders.
Lowe’s reported fiscal 2025 sales exceeding $86 billion, operates over 1,750 home‑improvement stores and employs roughly 300,000 associates. The retailer already offers buy‑online‑pickup‑in‑store, curbside pickup and standard same‑day delivery.
Seemantini Godbole, chief information and AI officer at Lowe's, said, "By piloting drone delivery, we're addressing a real project pain point with an innovative solution that is integrated into the retail journey, giving our hometown customers next‑generation fulfillment right when they need it."
