Hertz Car Sales, a unit of Hertz Global Holdings, introduced a three-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty for qualifying used vehicles, effective immediately across its U.S. dealership network and online platform.
The program, branded 100K Mile Protection, applies to used cars no older than five model years with fewer than 75,000 miles at purchase. Coverage includes the engine, transmission or transaxle, and drive axle, with a $100 deductible per repair visit. The warranty begins on the contract’s effective date and terminates at 36 months or when the vehicle reaches 100,000 total miles, whichever occurs first.
Eligible buyers also gain access to ancillary benefits for covered mechanical failures, such as rental car reimbursement, towing, and trip interruption coverage, subject to eligibility and policy limits. Hertz Car Sales typically sells vehicles up to one year old, positioning the new warranty as an added value proposition in the used-car market.
The move follows a company-commissioned survey showing 79% of buyers prioritize maintenance costs when purchasing a vehicle. Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales, said the program reflects the company’s commitment to helping customers buy and maintain their next vehicle with greater confidence.
