Brazilian banks plan to allocate R$3 billion toward artificial intelligence and data analytics in 2026, according to the Febraban Banking Technology Survey 2026 published by the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) and conducted by Deloitte.
The survey, released during Febraban Tech, also projects total technology investments by the banking sector to reach R$50 billion next year. An additional R$3.9 billion is earmarked for migrating systems and data to the cloud. The investments represent an 8% increase in AI and data analytics spending compared with the prior year, while cloud-related outlays are expected to rise 30% year-over-year.
Nearly all surveyed banks—92%—cited faster execution of routine tasks as the primary benefit of AI adoption. Over half of institutions (52%) highlighted improvements such as reduced customer response times, lower costs, and enhanced data analysis efficiency. Fraud detection and prevention were identified as key gains by 48% of respondents.
The findings underscore a shift toward integrating technology into core business strategies, according to Sérgio Biagin, partner of Financial Services at Deloitte. Biagin noted that the investments aim to drive operational efficiency, strengthen institutional resilience, and enable new customer engagement models and value creation.
The survey data was published on August 25, 2026, as part of Febraban’s annual technology event, with Deloitte overseeing the research methodology and analysis.
