Hertz Car Sales, the used-vehicle division of Hertz Global Holdings, on Tuesday launched a 3-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty on eligible inventory at no extra cost.
The program, branded 100K Mile Protection, applies to vehicles that are five model years old or newer and have fewer than 75,000 miles at the time of sale. Hertz Car Sales typically stocks inventory that is one year old or newer, according to the company.
Coverage includes specified components of the engine, transmission or transaxle, and drive axle, with a $100 deductible per covered repair visit. Warranty duration is capped at 36 months or until the vehicle reaches 100,000 total odometer miles, whichever occurs first. The warranty is non-transferable to subsequent owners.
For certain covered mechanical breakdowns, customers may qualify for complimentary rental-car reimbursement, towing reimbursement and travel-breakdown reimbursement, subject to terms, limits and eligibility requirements. The move follows research commissioned by Hertz indicating that 79% of buyers consider maintenance costs an important factor when purchasing a vehicle.
Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales, said the program reflects the company’s commitment to helping customers buy and own their next vehicle with greater confidence.
