Freedom Gold Corp. announced the appointment of John Shurko as Chief Executive Officer and board member, effective immediately. Shurko, a co-founder and president of 21Alpha Resources Inc., brings extensive mineral exploration experience, having managed programs totaling over US$1.4 million since 2016. His tenure includes prospecting, geochemical surveys, drilling more than 4,000 meters of core samples, and coordinating geophysical programs.
Veronique Laberge stepped down from her roles as interim CEO and board member but will remain as Chief Financial Officer. The company also outlined plans for a non-brokered private placement of up to 4,444,444 flow-through ordinary shares at C$0.18 per share, targeting gross proceeds of C$800,000. Proceeds from the offering will fund qualifying Canadian exploration expenses on Nova Scotia properties acquired through an option agreement dated June 4, 2026. The funds will support work on the Blockhouse, Widow Point, Frenchvale, and Westfield properties. Freedom Gold intends to incur qualifying expenditures between the closing date and December 31, 2027, with renunciation to subscribers no later than December 31, 2026.
The offering is expected to close on or about September 30, 2026, with all issued securities subject to a four-month hold period. Certain insiders may participate, constituting related-party transactions under Multilateral Instrument 61-101. Freedom Gold, founded in 2020, holds mineral properties in Quebec and Nova Scotia.
