Descartes Systems Group (NASDAQ:DSGX; TSX:DSG) unveiled the Descartes Datamyne AI Agent, a conversational artificial-intelligence tool built into its global trade intelligence platform that allows users to analyze worldwide trade data through natural-language queries.
The system draws on more than 500 million shipment records added each year across 230 markets. It eliminates the need for users to construct database filters or query structures, instead enabling them to ask complex trade questions directly. The agent returns underlying shipment records alongside visualizations so users can validate findings within the platform.
Brian Hodgson, general manager of trade intelligence at Descartes, said the tool makes "trusted trade intelligence more accessible," helping organizations track supplier activity shifts, changing product flows, emerging market demand, and competitor adaptation.
Ken Wood, executive vice president of product management at Descartes, was also cited in connection with the launch. The product is aimed at sourcing, sales, supply chain, and market intelligence teams seeking to analyze observed shipment behavior rather than relying on static reports.
The company's stock closed at 113.12 Canadian dollars on Wednesday, up 2.27, or 2.05%, though the gains were not attributed to the product announcement.
Descartes estimates the AI agent can reduce the time spent on global trade data research and analysis by as much as 90%, depending on user experience and query complexity.
