DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA) and Humana have launched a kidney disease care program for Medicare Advantage members with chronic kidney disease stages 3B-5, expanding their existing collaboration beyond end-stage treatment. The initiative, which began July 1, serves more than 10,000 patients and aims to stabilize kidney function and slow disease progression through coordinated care addressing cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic health.
The program leverages DaVita’s network of 3,000 value-based nephrologist partners to deliver services including care coordination, patient education on treatment options such as home dialysis and kidney transplantation, and support for barriers like nutrition, transportation, and mental health. DaVita Integrated Kidney Care (DaVita IKC) will oversee the effort, with Dr. Sonia Samagh, national medical director for DaVita IKC, stating the initiative reflects a shift toward upstream interventions in kidney care.
As of June 30, 2026, DaVita reported serving approximately 298,500 patients across 3,266 outpatient dialysis centers globally, including 2,671 centers in the United States and 595 in 14 other countries.
