Aecon Group Inc. has secured a $714 million contract for the GO Expansion project in Ontario, adding the full amount to its backlog. Of this total, $649 million will be recognized in the Construction segment backlog during the third quarter of 2026, while $65 million was already recorded in the second quarter.
The contract, executed under an alliance model with Metrolinx as the project owner, was awarded to ONxpress Civils Contractor General Partnership, a 50/50 joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada. Construction has already commenced on the Durham College Oshawa GO Station and includes civil work, track improvements, and enhancements along the Lakeshore East line.
Aecon’s involvement in Ontario’s transit sector extends beyond this project, with previously delivered contracts including the Waterloo LRT, Finch West LRT, and Eglinton Crosstown LRT. The company is also currently engaged in the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Elevated Guideway project, the Scarborough Subway Extension, and the Yonge North Subway Extension Advance Tunnel project. Additionally, Aecon holds contracts for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Stations project in British Columbia and the Réseau express métropolitain projects in Quebec.
