JPMorgan Chase & Co. is leading efforts to arrange a $5 billion debt package to finance Volta Infra Holdings Ltd.’s expansion of AI-focused data centers. The bank has initiated early outreach to potential lenders to assess interest in the financing, which will support Volta’s infrastructure development for artificial intelligence workloads.
Volta Infra secured $300 million in venture funding earlier this month, valuing the company at $2.4 billion. The funding round is intended to broaden access to high-cost AI chips for a range of technology firms, including large AI labs and smaller startups. The company was founded in 2026 by Ricard Boada and Sofia Gumuzio, both former executives from Brookfield Asset Management Ltd.’s infrastructure division.
The financing initiative follows Volta’s $10 billion agreement to provide computing capacity to Anthropic PBC, the developer of the Claude AI model. Under the deal, Volta will deliver a data center in Norway in partnership with Bitdeer Technologies Group, supplying infrastructure for Anthropic’s operations. The project underscores growing demand for specialized AI infrastructure amid rising chip costs and computational requirements.
