Bookings by Swiss travelers for trips to the United States accelerated their decline in the first half of 2026, according to data released by the Swiss Travel Association (SRV).
Between January and mid-June, 120,000 Swiss nationals traveled to the US, marking a 16.5% drop compared to the same period last year, said Andrea Beffa, SRV managing director, at a media briefing on Wednesday.
The sharp downward trend builds on a steep decline in 2025, when Swiss entries into the US fell 10.6% to roughly 361,000, following what the source material describes as a prior year's downturn linked to tourist diver activities.
If the current trajectory holds through the remainder of the year, annual Swiss visits to the US could reach approximately 300,000 in 2026 — a level not seen since 2007, Beffa said.
Over the past two years, since the start of Donald Trump's second presidential term, the United States has effectively lost a quarter of Swiss tourism traffic. For comparison, total Swiss-US entries stood at 404,434 in 2024.
