Swiss bank UBS has launched YUMO, a free digital learning platform designed for young people. The service provides short chapters, videos, quizzes and everyday examples to teach budgeting, investment basics, loan risks and other financial topics.
YUMO covers subjects such as inflation, banking, cryptocurrencies and retirement planning. The platform is available in German, French, Italian and English and can be accessed without charge.
Chief Executive Sergio Ermotti said the initiative seeks to foster financial independence among younger generations. He emphasized that users do not need to become experts, only to know enough to ask the right questions and understand risks. Ermotti also highlighted diversification as a way to mitigate common financial mistakes.
The name YUMO stands for “Your Money” and builds on the earlier “Geld und Wirtschaft” guide produced by the Swiss Volksbank, a predecessor of Credit Suisse and now part of UBS.
