Los Angeles, 14 September 2026 – During a conference presentation, President Donald Trump interrupted Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang with a five‑minute phone call placed on speaker.
Trump used the call to argue that fears of artificial‑intelligence threats are "a hoax" and asserted that "the robots are not going to be taking over the world." He later posted on X that warnings about AI are comparable to past climate‑change alarmism and described the critics as "Revolutionaries for a Bad and Evil Cause."
Anthropic, an AI startup, and its chief executive Dario Amodei have publicly called for regulatory oversight, warning of catastrophic risks from unchecked AI development. Industry observers note that Anthropic’s warnings have also been framed as a marketing strategy ahead of a planned mega‑IPO.
At the close of trading, Nvidia (NVDA) shares were down 3.37% at $210.94, after falling 7.36 points during the session. After‑hours trading showed a modest rise to $211.34.
