Banco Santander S.A. repurchased 12.8 million shares between Thursday and Tuesday, spending a total of €468.98 million under its share buyback program, the bank disclosed Sept. 10.
On Tuesday alone, Santander acquired 5 million shares across trading venues XMAD, CEUX, TQEX and AQEU at a weighted-average price of €12.59 per share. The repurchases so far represent roughly 25.7% of the program's maximum investment amount, which was approved by the board on Aug. 10.
The weighted-average purchase prices for the period ranged from €12.52 to €12.85 per share. Trades were executed under the ticker SAN (ISIN ES0113900J37) and disclosed in compliance with the EU Market Abuse Regulation and related delegated acts.
As of 2021, Santander had repurchased approximately 18.2% of its outstanding shares under prior buyback activity.
