HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. announced the appointment of Mark Volk as senior vice president, revenue for its wholly owned subsidiary BUZZ High Performance Computing Inc. (BUZZ HPC). Volk reports to BUZZ HPC President and COO Craig Tavares.
In his new role, Volk will oversee BUZZ HPC’s worldwide go‑to‑market effort across enterprise, government, sovereign AI, hyperscale, research and academic customers. He will manage the commercialization of GPU‑powered AI infrastructure, including sovereign AI cloud, GPU‑as‑a‑Service, colocation and hybrid AI solutions.
Volk brings nearly three decades of experience in AI, high‑performance computing, cloud and enterprise infrastructure. He previously served as chief executive officer of CiphexAI Corporation, spent five years at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in senior roles covering federal Canada and HPC & AI commercial for the Americas, and held global leadership positions at IBM where he managed a portfolio of roughly $1.2 billion and helped launch IBM’s first HPC cloud SaaS offering.
HIVE reported that on August 21, 2026 it surpassed $1 million in daily revenue from combined hash‑rate and GPU cloud services, with GPU cloud operations contributing about $100,000 per day. The company’s Bitcoin mining produced an average of 12 BTC per day, roughly 2 % of global network output. Year‑to‑date, HIVE has secured more than $600 million in total contract value for GPU cloud agreements, and its pipeline exceeds $1 billion in potential contract value.
The firm also said it will wind down Bitcoin mining at its Swedish facilities, which accounted for less than 5 % of global daily revenue in August, and is evaluating repurposing that infrastructure for HPC and AI applications.
