ZenaTech has completed the prototype of its IQ Octo agricultural drone, a battery-powered octocopter designed for precision spraying and seeding operations. The medium-sized drone, equipped with eight motors, offers a flight time of 20 to 25 minutes per charge and can carry payloads of up to 25 kilograms, either in a liquid tank with spray nozzles or a hopper with a seed spreader.
The IQ Octo is part of ZenaTech’s IQ Series and will be offered through the company’s "Drone as a Service" business model. Field testing is scheduled to commence at the company’s Arizona facility within the coming weeks. The drone is engineered for applications including fertilizer and crop-protection product application, as well as seed distribution via programmed flight paths.
ZenaTech, which operates manufacturing facilities in Arizona, Dubai, and Taiwan, has outlined plans for a second version of the drone. Version 2 is expected to introduce features such as solar panel maintenance support, swarm capability, automated refilling, and a folding design. The company’s broader product portfolio includes drones for defense, inventory management, inspections, land surveying, and underwater operations.
Shaun Passley, CEO of ZenaTech, highlighted the growth potential of precision agriculture, noting that market analysts project annual growth of over 30% in the sector over the next five years.
