Wildberries warehouse near Moscow damaged in suspected drone strike

A warehouse operated by Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, caught fire near Moscow on Friday after what local authorities described as a suspected drone strike.

Emergency services reported the blaze at the logistics facility in the Ramensky district, southeast of the capital. Firefighters contained the fire within hours, though structural damage to the facility was reported. No casualties were immediately confirmed.

The incident coincides with a wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine, including overnight attacks on energy infrastructure and urban areas. Russian officials framed the strikes as retaliatory measures, while Ukrainian authorities condemned the assaults as indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets.

Wildberries, which operates a vast network of warehouses and delivery services across Russia, has not issued an official statement regarding potential disruptions to its logistics operations. The company remains a critical player in Russia’s e-commerce sector, with over 100,000 employees and a market valuation exceeding $13 billion as of last year.

Analysts noted that while the fire’s impact on supply chains may be localized, any prolonged disruption could exacerbate delivery delays amid already strained logistics networks due to ongoing sanctions and wartime conditions. The company’s ability to reroute shipments or rely on alternative storage facilities remains unconfirmed.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations did not respond to requests for comment on the cause of the fire or its potential link to the broader conflict.
