Nuclea Energy to buy Moltex nuclear tech assets for undisclosed sum
Deal expands Nuclea’s nuclear fuel portfolio with Moltex’s patented reactor and waste solutions. Terms undisclosed.

Nuclea Energy said on Monday it will acquire the nuclear technology assets of Moltex Energy, including its patented reactor designs and waste management solutions, for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition targets Moltex’s intellectual property portfolio, which includes the Stable Salt Reactor design and related fuel cycle technologies. Nuclea did not disclose financial terms, timing or regulatory approvals required for the deal.
Moltex, a U.K.-based advanced nuclear company, has developed reactor designs aimed at reducing nuclear waste and improving fuel efficiency. Its Stable Salt Reactor uses molten salt as a coolant and fuel solvent, a design the company says enhances safety and sustainability compared with conventional reactors.
Nuclea, a private nuclear fuel manufacturer, said the acquisition aligns with its strategy to expand its portfolio of nuclear technologies. The company did not provide further details on integration plans or potential synergies with its existing operations.
Moltex has previously raised funding from investors including U.K. government-backed bodies and private equity groups. The company’s reactor designs have been under review by regulators in the U.S. and Canada as part of pre-licensing processes.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory and shareholder approvals where required. Nuclea did not specify a completion timeline.
