Vision Marine Technologies Inc. said it has been granted a U.S. patent for a system designed to authenticate and verify the operational status of its electric propulsion systems in recreational and commercial vessels.
The patent, identified as U.S. Patent No. 11,993,456, outlines a method for confirming the authenticity of Vision Marine’s electric motors and battery management systems, the company said in a statement. The technology aims to prevent counterfeiting and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards in marine applications.
Vision Marine, based in Canada, develops all-electric marine propulsion systems. The company has previously secured patents in Canada and Europe for similar technologies. The latest U.S. patent covers methods for verifying the operational integrity of its systems, including real-time monitoring and data logging features.
The authentication system is intended to enhance safety and reliability for operators of electric vessels, the company said. Vision Marine did not disclose financial terms related to the patent or its potential impact on revenue in the statement.
