US crude oil production hits June record at 13.79 mbl/d as demand rises

U.S. crude oil production reached 13.79 million barrels per day (bbl/d) in June, marking an increase from 13.76 mbl/d in May and approaching the national record of 14.00 mbl/d, set in October 2025. Meanwhile, demand for petroleum products rose to 20.74 mbl/d in June, up from 20.07 mbl/d in May, though it remains below the all-time monthly high of 21.67 mbl/d, recorded in August 2005. The Energy Information Administration’s Petroleum Supply Monthly report, released on Tuesday, also highlighted gains in natural gas production, with daily output climbing to 135.5 billion cubic feet (Bcf)—up from 134.2 Bcf in May—and nearing the December 2025 record of 136.0 Bcf. Texas led gains in natural gas output, with production rising by 1.3% to a new monthly high of 39.2 Bcf, surpassing the previous peak of 38.9 Bcf in April. Pennsylvania’s output, however, fell by 1.0% to 21.1 Bcf, though it remained below its record of 21.9 Bcf, set in December 2021. The data underscores sustained growth in U.S. energy production amid rising demand, though long-term benchmarks remain from earlier years.
