A technical fault at Postfinance’s online banking platform temporarily displayed zero balances across customer accounts on Saturday afternoon, prompting concern among clients before the issue was resolved.
For roughly two hours, the electronic bank statement (eKR) and mobile banking app showed account balances at 0 CHF. The disruption occurred around midday and was resolved shortly before 14:30 local time, after which the Swiss financial services provider issued a public statement assuring customers that their funds were unaffected.
“It was a display error,” a Postfinance spokesperson told Keystone-SDA, following initial reports by the daily Blick. The bank emphasized that all money remained securely in customers’ accounts throughout the incident and was accessible at all times.
The spokesperson said Postfinance worked “at high speed” to identify and fix the problem, apologizing to customers for the inconvenience. The bank did not disclose the technical cause of the malfunction or the total number of affected accounts.
