The U.S. Justice Department announced on Wednesday it had disrupted a Chinese state-linked hacking operation that compromised multiple federal agencies, including the Justice Department, NASA, the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Senate.
Federal authorities said they seized the internet domains associated with two hacking platforms—QScan and QTRouter—used in the campaign. The operation targeted sensitive government systems, though no immediate details were provided on the extent of data accessed or the duration of the intrusion.
China has repeatedly denied involvement in state-sponsored cyberattacks, a stance reiterated in past disputes over alleged espionage activities. The disruption follows heightened scrutiny of foreign cyber threats to critical U.S. infrastructure and government networks.
The Justice Department did not specify whether additional legal or technical measures were taken beyond the domain seizures. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and other agencies are continuing investigations into the incident.
