Norway’s benchmark Oslo OBX index closed 0.10% lower on Wednesday, as losses in media, transport and diversified financials sectors offset gains in select stocks.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by 140 to 114, with 30 shares unchanged. The index’s modest retreat followed a day of mixed performance across sectors, with broader European equities showing limited directional momentum.
Among the top gainers, salmon producer SalMar ASA led with a 6.25% rise to 578.00, while Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA added 1.90% to 13.39 and seafood group Mowi ASA gained 1.83% to 211.60. On the downside, Hafnia Ltd fell 3.48% to 73.45, TGS NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA dropped 3.25% to 130.80 and Hoegh Autoliners ASA declined 2.59% to 169.50.
Commodities trading reflected a softer tone, with October crude oil futures down 0.69% at $81.79 per barrel and November Brent crude falling 0.66% to $86.69. December gold futures also eased 0.58% to $4,667.35 per troy ounce.
The Norwegian krone firmed against major peers, with EUR/NOK up 0.23% at 10.89 and USD/NOK rising 0.46% to 9.35. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were 0.29% higher at 99.13.
