Turkey’s benchmark BIST 100 index ended 0.19% lower on Tuesday, as declines in energy and industrial shares outweighed gains in financial services and technology stocks.
The index closed at 10,235.45 points in Istanbul, with 419 stocks declining against 201 advancing and 22 unchanged. The broader market trend reflected weakness in the chemical, petroleum, textile, and industrial sectors.
Among the top gainers, Destek Finans Faktoring As led with a 6.82% rise to 2,350.00 points, followed by Odine Solutions Teknoloji Ticaret ve Sanayi AS, which added 6.14% to 1,970.00 points. Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS also climbed 5.80% to 62.00 points.
Energy and industrial stocks weighed on the index. Turkiye Petrol Rafinerileri AS fell 6.68% to 373.75 points, while Anadolu Metal Madencilik Isletmeleri AS declined 5.51% to 138.90 points. Margun Enerji Uretim Sanayi ve Ticaret AS dropped 5.28% to 33.00 points.
Commodities showed mixed performance. Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.01% to $4,698.45 per troy ounce, while crude oil for October delivery fell 3.23% to $82.26 per barrel. The Brent crude contract for November delivery declined 3.21% to $87.63 per barrel.
The Turkish lira strengthened slightly against major currencies. The USD/TRY pair rose 0.06% to 48.10, while the EUR/TRY pair increased 0.11% to 56.17.
