Toei Animation Co. Ltd. shares advanced 5.6% to ¥2,995 on Monday, the highest level since July 30, as investors responded to the company’s announcement of two new One Piece films.
The new productions, One Piece Film God Valley and One Piece Film BAAD, were unveiled at the One Piece Day'26 event held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on Sunday. The first film is scheduled for release in summer 2027, while the second is planned for 2029. These mark the franchise’s first theatrical releases since One Piece Film RED in 2022.
The timing aligns with the franchise’s 30th anniversary of the One Piece manga in 2027, a milestone expected to drive promotional and merchandising activity. Toei generates revenue through production, licensing, and character merchandise tied to the franchise.
The company has also expanded its global reach, hosting its inaugural ONE PIECE Fest in Los Angeles on August 25–26 as part of its international franchise strategy. The announcement comes as Toei’s shares outperformed the broader market, with the Nikkei 225 declining 0.7% to 65,535 on the same day.
