Telecom Egypt said on Friday it has been upgraded from the FTSE Russell small-cap segment to the mid-cap segment in the FTSE Emerging Markets Index, effective after the close on Aug. 29.
The upgrade reflects the company’s market capitalization of approximately $3.9 billion, which now exceeds the minimum threshold for mid-cap inclusion, FTSE Russell said. Telecom Egypt also meets the index provider’s liquidity, trading volume and free-float requirements.
The company, which operates fixed and mobile networks, data centers and cloud services under brands including WE and Vodafone Egypt, will be included in the FTSE Global Equity Index Series. It is one of three Egyptian constituents in the FTSE Emerging Markets Index.
Telecom Egypt’s shares are listed on the Egyptian Exchange under ticker ETEL.CA and on the London Stock Exchange under TEEG.LN. The company holds a 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt, which remains listed separately.
Tamer El Mahdi, managing director and chief executive, said the upgrade underscores the company’s performance, financial resilience and disciplined capital management. FTSE Russell conducts semi-annual reviews of its indexes, with the next Middle East and Africa review scheduled for September 2026.
