Strategy Inc. resumed Bitcoin purchases last week, acquiring 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million between August 24 and August 30 at an average price of $80,318 per coin, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The purchases were funded through a $602.8 million equity raise via at-the-market sales of 4.53 million Class A shares, with $369.7 million deployed directly into Bitcoin. The company’s average cost basis across its total holdings remains $75,412 per coin, following the acquisition of 845,050 BTC at a combined historical cost of $63.73 billion.
The latest accumulation follows a 10-week selling streak that ended in late June, during which Strategy sold 6,948 BTC for $432.5 million to fund preferred-stock dividends and share repurchases. The board had approved a Digital Credit Capital Framework on June 29, authorizing selective Bitcoin sales for the first time in the company’s history. Bitfinex analysts characterized the disposal as a "rounding error" relative to daily spot trading volumes.
Strategy’s shares were up 1% to 2% in pre-market trading ahead of the Monday NYSE open, after closing 7.34% lower at $127.31 on August 28. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor confirmed the purchases via a social media post on X, stating, "We're ₿ack," following the SEC filing. The company’s Bitcoin holdings now trail its June 21 peak of 847,363 BTC by 2,313 coins.
