Saudi Arabian equities ended lower on Monday, with the Tadawul All Share Index falling 0.28% at the close in Riyadh. Losses were broad-based, led by declines in the civil construction, insurance and cement sectors.
Declining stocks outnumbered advancers by 224 to 119, with 15 issues unchanged. The index's retreat followed a session in which regional energy benchmarks showed mixed performance.
Among the top gainers, Mesc surged 8.66% to 35.40 Saudi riyals, its highest level in 52 weeks, while East Pipes Integrated Company for Industry added 5.36% to 196.70 riyals. Saudi Cable Company rose 4.74% to 183.50 riyals.
The worst performers included Alsorayai Group, which dropped 9.98% to 17.68 riyals, Umm Al Qura for Development and Construction, down 4.85% to 17.08 riyals, and Saudi Tadawul Group Holding, which fell 4.55% to 130.00 riyals.
Oil prices advanced, with October crude futures up 3.08% to $85.97 per barrel and December Brent crude rising 5.25% to $90.64 per barrel. Gold futures for December delivery, however, declined 0.87% to $4,490.29 per troy ounce.
Foreign exchange movements were minimal, with the EUR/SAR pair and USD/SAR pair each changing less than 0.11% to 4.35 and 3.75, respectively. The US Dollar Futures Index edged up 0.13% to 99.53.
