News photojournalists at Sinclair’s KOMO/KUNS television stations in Seattle are no longer represented by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators of the United States and Canada Local 600 (IATSE Local 600).
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) notified the stations that IATSE Local 600 voluntarily disclaimed interest in continuing to represent the employees, effective August 18. The union’s withdrawal followed an employee-initiated decertification petition and vote regarding continued representation.
Sinclair operates 178 television stations across 79 U.S. markets, including the Seattle-based KOMO/KUNS outlets. The company also owns the Tennis Channel and several multicast networks. IATSE Local 600 will no longer serve as the bargaining representative for the Seattle news photojournalists.
