Sims Limited on Friday reported a 168% surge in earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) for the fiscal year ended June 30, driven by strong demand for recycled metals and the expanding role of artificial intelligence in industrial supply chains.
The company’s FY26 financial presentation highlighted a significant rebound in metal prices and increased volumes, particularly in North America and Europe. Sims attributed the earnings growth to higher scrap metal prices and improved operational efficiency, with AI-driven analytics optimizing processing and logistics.
Full-year revenue rose 23% year-over-year to $11.2 billion, while net profit after tax increased to $540 million from $202 million in the prior year. The company also noted a 12% increase in processed metal volumes, supported by sustained demand from automotive and technology sectors.
Sims’ management cited the integration of AI tools as a key driver of productivity gains, enabling faster material sorting and reduced processing costs. The company’s focus on sustainability and circular economy practices further aligned with industrial clients’ decarbonization goals, reinforcing long-term demand.
The FY26 results follow Sims’ recent expansion into AI-powered metal recycling facilities, with additional investments planned to scale capacity in response to projected growth in electric vehicle and renewable energy supply chains.
Shares of Sims Limited were indicated higher in pre-market trading on Friday, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s earnings momentum and strategic positioning.
