Shares of SpaceX and Micron Technology rose on Monday, leading advancers by market capitalization as investors targeted select large-cap names amid mixed broader market performance.
SpaceX’s stock climbed 3.2% to $124.50, extending gains from recent weeks as the company maintained momentum in satellite launches and Starlink subscriber growth. Analysts cited continued demand for its broadband services and progress in next-generation rocket development as key drivers for the advance.
Micron Technology also gained 2.8%, closing at $82.75, as the memory chip manufacturer benefited from renewed optimism in the semiconductor sector. Recent industry reports highlighted improving demand for DRAM and NAND flash products, particularly from data center and AI infrastructure segments, which supported Micron’s upward trajectory.
The gains contrasted with a sluggish broader market, where the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite each slipped 0.3% as investors weighed mixed economic data and cautious corporate outlooks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, however, edged up 0.1%, led by gains in industrial and financial shares.
Trading volumes for both SpaceX and Micron remained above their 30-day averages, reflecting heightened interest in the stocks. SpaceX’s shares have surged 18% over the past month, while Micron has added 12% during the same period, outperforming the tech-heavy Nasdaq’s 4% gain.
Analysts attributed the divergence to company-specific catalysts rather than sector-wide trends. For SpaceX, the focus remained on its expanding Starlink user base and upcoming Starship test flights, while Micron’s rally was tied to expectations of a cyclical rebound in memory chip pricing.
Investors will monitor upcoming earnings reports from major tech firms this week, including Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices, for further signals on semiconductor demand and broader tech sector health.
