Portugal’s benchmark PSI index closed 0.60% lower on Thursday, as losses in energy and utilities offset gains in consumer services and technology. The decline marked the latest session of mixed performance in Lisbon’s equity market, which saw 15 stocks fall against 12 advances and six unchanged.
Energy group Galp Energia led decliners, dropping 2.08% to 20.71, while utilities firm Redes Energéticas Nacionais fell 1.54% to 3.51. Consumer staples group Jerónimo Martins also retreated, down 0.88% to 18.00. Among the few bright spots, construction company Mota Engil rose 3.88% to 4.82, and postal operator CTT Correios edged up 0.46% to 6.59.
The broader market backdrop showed Brent crude oil futures for November delivery up 0.67% at $87.52 per barrel, while U.S. crude for October delivery rose 0.56% to $82.69. Gold futures for December delivery gained 0.16% to $4,660.56 per troy ounce. The euro held steady against the dollar, with EUR/USD flat at 1.17, while the U.S. Dollar Index futures slipped 0.03% to 99.06.
