Norwegian stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Oslo OBX index climbing 0.31% to a three-month peak.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners 149 to 107 on the Oslo Stock Exchange, with 21 stocks unchanged. Gains were led by the healthcare equipment, life sciences and public utilities sectors, offsetting losses in energy and consumer staples.
Nordic Semiconductor ASA led the advancers, rising 3.45% to 165.00, followed by Nel ASA at 2.13 and Salmar ASA at 544.00. On the downside, Frontline Ltd fell 2.46% to 400.50, while Equinor ASA declined 1.24% to 389.90. Orkla dropped 1.08% to 96.05, marking a fresh 52-week low.
Commodity markets showed divergent moves. October crude oil futures fell 3.02% to $82.44 per barrel, while Brent oil for November delivery declined 2.92% to $87.90. December gold futures slipped 0.12% to $4,692.39 per troy ounce.
The Norwegian krone strengthened against major peers. The EUR/NOK rate rose 0.22% to 10.87, while the USD/NOK advanced 0.29% to 9.32. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were up 0.02% at 98.91.
