NOMAD Power Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: NMAD) has moved its Vermont Long-Duration Energy Storage Demonstration Project into Phase 3, marking the transition from planning to installation, integration, and construction.
The project, valued at $19 million, has secured a $9.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity under agreement DE-OE0000952. The remaining funding is covered by a non-federal cost share of approximately 50%, aligning with the DOE’s requirements for cost-sharing in federal grants.
Phase 3 will deploy up to eight transportable battery energy storage systems across five locations within Green Mountain Power’s service area in Vermont. The systems will utilize NOMAD’s latest platform, featuring lithium iron phosphate batteries and microgrid-enabled controls designed for grid stability and resilience.
Geordan Pursglove, CEO of NOMAD Power Solutions, stated that advancing to Phase 3 represents a significant milestone, reflecting progress in meeting technical and performance benchmarks set by the DOE funding agreement.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance long-duration energy storage capabilities in the U.S., supporting grid modernization and renewable energy integration. NOMAD’s transportable systems are designed to provide scalable, flexible storage solutions for utilities and commercial applications.
