NOMAD Power Solutions Inc. has entered the final phase of the Vermont Long Duration Energy Storage Demonstration Project, following approval to proceed with installation, integration and construction. The Boca Raton, Florida-based company said the move marks the third and final stage of the $19 million initiative, with approximately half of the funding provided by a $9.5 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Electricity.
The project will deploy up to eight NOMAD Transportable Power Systems units across five sites within Green Mountain Power's service territory in Vermont. These systems incorporate NOMAD's latest platform, featuring lithium iron phosphate batteries and microgrid-enabled controls designed to enhance grid reliability in rural communities.
Phase 3 follows prior operational use of an existing NOMAD system by Green Mountain Power for peak management and to maintain power supply to commercial customers during planned utility maintenance. The company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, NOMAD Transportable Power Systems Inc., is overseeing the deployment under DOE award DE-OE0000952, with work continuing in accordance with the project’s Statement of Project Objectives.
NOMAD Power Solutions CEO Geordan Pursglove said the advancement into Phase 3 reflects progress against technical and performance requirements established under the DOE award.
