NOMAD Power Solutions Inc. has entered Phase 3 of the Vermont Long Duration Energy Storage Demonstration Project, marking a key milestone in the $19 million initiative funded in part by a $9.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
The project, awarded under DOE identifier DE-OE0000952, will deploy up to eight NOMAD transportable battery energy storage systems across five sites within Green Mountain Power’s service territory. Phase 3 covers installation, integration, and construction, utilizing lithium iron phosphate batteries and microgrid-enabled controls.
The initiative seeks to demonstrate how transportable energy storage can enhance grid reliability in rural communities, supporting peak management, emergency response, utility maintenance, and renewable energy integration. Green Mountain Power previously utilized an existing NOMAD system for peak shaving and maintaining service to commercial customers during planned outages.
NOMAD Transportable Power Systems Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, is leading the deployment under the cooperative agreement with the DOE’s Office of Electricity. The project’s non-federal cost share is approximately 50%, subject to reimbursement terms tied to milestone completion.
NOMAD Power Solutions’ shares closed at $4.20 on August 25, up 1.2% on the day, following a 4.55% pre-market gain to $4.391 at 05:51 ET.
