GoPro on Wednesday introduced the Mission 1 Pro ILS, a high-end action camera designed for professional and advanced users, featuring a 50MP 1-inch sensor and interchangeable Micro Four Thirds lenses.
The camera is priced at $699.99, with a $100 discount for existing GoPro subscribers. Pre-orders opened immediately on GoPro.com, with shipments scheduled to begin next week. Retail availability is set for September, coinciding with the launch of the Mission Monitor companion app on the Apple App Store.
The Mission 1 Pro ILS supports up to 8K60 video recording, 4K240 slow motion, and Open Gate modes including 8K30 and 4K120. It includes 10-bit color depth, 10-bit Log encoding with GP-Log2, and bit rates up to 240Mbps. Audio capabilities feature four microphones with 32-bit float recording and USB-C connectivity.
The device weighs 197 grams and is powered by the Enduro 2 battery, delivering over three hours of continuous 4K30 recording or more than five hours in 1080p30 on a single charge. Unlike previous models, the Mission 1 Pro ILS requires manual focus and aperture adjustments, as it lacks electronic lens contacts, and is compatible with Micro Four Thirds lenses designed for 1-inch or larger sensors. These lenses are sold separately.
The Mission Monitor app, available for iOS 18 or higher, offers features such as focus peaking, zebra pattern overlays, real-time LUT preview, and framing overlays. The app will be free upon release on September 2.
GoPro, headquartered in San Mateo, California, launched the Mission 1 Series earlier this year as part of its push into higher-end professional-grade equipment.
