Morocco’s benchmark equities gauge ended lower on Thursday, as declines in utilities, banking and mining shares outweighed advances in construction and beverages.
The Moroccan All Shares index fell 0.40% at the close in Casablanca, with decliners outnumbering advancers by 30 to 29. Seven stocks were unchanged.
Among the top gainers, construction firm Ste de Travaux de Realisation d'Ouvrages et de Constuction Industrielle SA led with a 9.97% rise to 202.35, followed by M2M Group at 421.85 after a 5.20% gain. Societe des Boissons du Maroc SA advanced 3.19% to 2,135.00.
On the downside, LafargeHolcim Maroc dropped 2.38% to 1,766.00, S2M fell 2.26% to 502.30 and Nationale d'Electrolyse et de Petrochimie Ste SA declined 1.91% to 357.05.
Crude oil futures showed modest gains, with October delivery up 0.04% to $82.26 per barrel and Brent for November delivery rising 0.33% to $87.23. December gold futures, however, slipped 0.13% to $4,647.45 per troy ounce.
Foreign exchange movements were limited, with EUR/MAD down 0.05% at 10.76 and USD/MAD essentially flat at 9.26, while the US Dollar Index futures were down 0.01% at 99.08.
