The Monterey Peninsula College Foundation has received a $25,000 Workforce Readiness grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation to support its Honor Grant program. The funding targets career pathways in nursing, firefighting, and emergency medical services.
The grant is part of the Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, administered by the American Water Charitable Foundation. Monterey Peninsula College, located in Pacific Grove, California, will use the funds to bolster workforce development initiatives in critical public service sectors.
Beccie Michael, Executive Director of the MPC Foundation, said the grant underscores a commitment to preparing professionals for roles in high-demand fields. The foundation’s Honor Grant program focuses on removing barriers to education and training for students pursuing careers in healthcare and emergency response.
American Water, the parent company of California American Water, operates as a regulated utility serving approximately 14 million people across 14 states and military installations. Its charitable arm, the American Water Charitable Foundation, has provided over $25 million in grants and matching gifts since 2012, funded by shareholder contributions.
California American Water, a subsidiary, serves around 720,000 customers in the state with a workforce of roughly 300 employees.
