Mexican equities ended higher on Monday, with the S&P/BMV IPC advancing 0.06% as gains in Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples offset declines in other sectors.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 125 to 107 on the Mexico Stock Exchange, with 18 stocks unchanged. The benchmark index’s modest gain reflected a mixed session across broader market segments.
Top performers included Gentera SAB de CV, which rose 3.15% to close at 39.59 pesos, Coca-Cola Femsa SAB de CV, up 2.97% at 194.66 pesos, and Fomento Económico Mexicano UBD, which added 1.71% to end at 206.94 pesos. The gains in consumer-related names contributed to the day’s positive momentum.
Decliners were led by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico SAB de CV Class B, which fell 2.89% to 348.59 pesos, extending its retreat to 52-week lows. Industrias Peñoles SAB de CV declined 2.15% to 915.05 pesos, while GCC SAB de CV dropped 1.51% to 199.70 pesos.
The Mexican peso held steady against the U.S. dollar, with USD/MXN flat at 16.94. The euro firmed 0.07% against the peso to 19.77, while the U.S. Dollar Index futures rose 0.19% to 98.92.
In commodities, gold futures for December delivery gained 0.63% to $4,709.90 per troy ounce, while crude oil for October delivery fell 2.39% to $84.98 per barrel. Brent crude for November delivery slipped 0.02% to $90.37 per barrel.
