Mexico's S&P/BMV IPC index closed 0.57% higher on Wednesday, lifted by gains in the industrials, consumer goods and services, and consumer staples sectors.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 134 to 98, with 15 stocks unchanged. The index's advance followed a mixed regional session, as Latin American equities showed divergent performance.
Among the top gainers, aviation group Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV rose 2.85% to 11.17 pesos, Regional SAB de CV added 2.60% to 141.83, and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte gained 2.50% to 212.75. The gains in regional airlines and airport operators reflected continued investor interest in Mexico's travel and logistics sectors.
The index's top losers included Megacable Holdings, which fell 2.44% to 51.56, Genomma Lab Internacional down 2.05% to 12.89, and Grupo Carso, which shed 1.39% to 137.89.
Commodities trading showed strength, with December gold futures up 0.86% at $4,434.30 per troy ounce and October crude oil rising 0.45% to $90.63 per barrel. Brent crude for November delivery climbed 0.10% to $95.35.
The Mexican peso traded 0.12% stronger against the dollar at 16.98, while the euro gained 0.14% to 19.68. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were down 0.11% at 99.53.
