L3Harris Technologies Inc. announced on Monday the appointment of Sam Mehta as chief executive officer, effective immediately. Christopher Kubasik, who has served in the role since 2015, will step down from his position.
Mehta, previously the company’s president and chief operating officer, assumes the CEO role with immediate effect. The board of directors expressed confidence in Mehta’s leadership and strategic vision for the defense and aerospace contractor.
Kubasik, who joined L3Harris predecessor companies in 2004, will remain with the company in a transition capacity to ensure a smooth handover. His tenure as CEO spanned nearly a decade, during which L3Harris expanded its portfolio through acquisitions and strengthened its position in key defense and space markets.
The company did not disclose additional details regarding Kubasik’s future role or departure timeline beyond the transition period. L3Harris shares were unchanged in pre-market trading following the announcement.
