Defense and aerospace contractor L3Harris Technologies Inc. announced on Friday the appointment of Sam Mehta as chief executive officer, effective immediately. Mehta, who previously served as the company’s president and chief operating officer, succeeds Christopher Kubasik, who is stepping down from the CEO role.
Kubasik will remain on L3Harris’s board of directors following his departure, the company stated. No additional details regarding the reasons for his departure or the transition were disclosed. L3Harris did not indicate whether a formal search for a permanent CEO replacement was conducted.
Mehta’s appointment marks a continuation of leadership stability at the company, which has emphasized operational execution and growth in its defense and space segments. L3Harris has faced increasing demand for its products amid heightened global defense spending and supply chain challenges in the aerospace sector.
The company expects the leadership transition to proceed without disruption to ongoing programs or customer commitments. L3Harris is scheduled to report its next quarterly earnings on July 25.
